Firefighter Safety

Course Description

Firefighting is risky business. The firefighter’s most important responsibility is to finish the shift or the call in the same (or better) condition than he or she began it. Coming home safely means knowing one’s job, understanding the risks one faces as a firefighter, and taking steps to prevent injuries by reducing or eliminating those risks. In this chapter, firefighters will learn about the principles of safety that should be followed throughout one’s career in the fire service.

After students complete this chapter and the related course work, they will understand the importance of safe operating practices.
