Firefighter / EMT – Full Time: Group 2 Closing date December 22nd, 2023 at 16:00 Hrs.

The Atkinson Fire Department is now accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill a full-time firefighter / EMT vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future full-time vacancies. At the time of this posting full time staff are paid an averaged 42-hour work week using a rotation of four twelve-hour shifts from 06:00 – 18:00 followed by four days off. This schedule is subject to change based on operational requirements.

Additionally, there are 6 hours per month of training scheduled on the second and fourth Monday of each month (3 hours each) from 19:00 – 22:00. Overtime callbacks and additional nighttime and weekend responses may be permitted depending on candidates place of residency and severity of emergency.  Overtime pay is eligible based on guidelines established by Chief.

In addition to emergency work, applicants must be willing to perform other assigned duties such as general maintenance of our facilities (equipment & apparatus) as well as public safety education & inspections.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be a team oriented professional, willing to embrace the opportunity to work alongside the department’s part time, call and per diem members, town employees and town residents.

·      High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.

·      Certification as a Pro-Board Firefighter I {Must obtain Pro-Board Firefighter II within 1 year of hire.}

·      Nationally Registered and NH licensed EMT-Basic (NH Advanced EMT preferred or obtain within 2 years of hire)

·      NH CDL-B with air brake and tank endorsement (or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire)

·      Candidates must have a valid CPAT certificate or meet Part 703 of the NH State Fire Code, Mandatory Standards for Appointment of Full-Time Career Fire Service Personnel

·      Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical, driving and criminal background check.

·      Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office and email applications, TEMSIS and NIFIRS.
