Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts is seeking highly responsible candidates for the position of Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic to fill one (1) new FF position and establish an eligibility list for potential future openings.
Minimum applicant qualifications:
NREMT or Massachusetts Paramedic (or a licensed EMT enrolled in a paramedic program, being in good standing, and will have completed training and be certified by the time of appointment)
High School Diploma / GED
Valid Driver’s License
Drug/marijuana and tobacco product free
Able to pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation (including credit check and motor vehicle driving history)
Able to pass a comprehensive NFPA 1582 pre-employment firefighter medical physical exam
Able to pass the Massachusetts Firefighter Physical Ability Test (PAT)
(EMT Basics and EMT Advanced are welcome to apply – preference will be given to Paramedics.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Lateral Massachusetts transfers are encouraged to apply
Pro-Board FF I/II certification or Graduate of Mass. Fire Academy Recruit Program
CDL-B driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement
Starting salary range: $1,179.51 – $1,239.30 weekly ($28.08 – $29.50 hour) DOQ; 42-hour work week (24-24-24-96);
plus benefits – health & dental insurance; retirement program; incentives for degrees, advanced firefighting certifications, and educational reimbursement.
Any non-paramedics hired (who are not currently enrolled in paramedic school) will need to complete and graduate from paramedic school (self-funded) within two years of hiring. Continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining and maintaining Paramedic certification and successful completion of the MFA Career Recruit program.
