Course Description

The Driver/Operator-All Vehicles course is designed to provide emergency medical services providers and firefighters with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to drive and operate modern emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.  Departments sending their students should plan to provide one fire apparatus for every 2 students for the last day of class (driving day).  Classes will be on  Thursday 3/26/2026 from 1800 – 2200, Tuesday 3/31/2026 from 1800 – 2200. Thursday 4/2/2026 from 1800 – 2200 and either Saturday 4/11 or Sunday 4/12 from 08:00-1600.  Test date will be announced on the first day of class.  Please note that all dates may be subject to change.

  • Module 1: Understanding Emergency Vehicles: 4 Hours
  • Module 2: Maintaining Emergency Vehicles: 4 Hours
  • Module 3: Driving & Operating Emergency Vehicles: 4 Hours
  • Module 4: Skill Drills: 8 Hours
  • Traffic Incident Management (TIMs): 4 Hours

The Driver/Operator – All Vehicle with TIMS class is designed to provide students, both EMS providers and firefighters, with the basic knowledge and skills required to safely drive emergency vehicles. A combination of classroom and hands-on skills drills cover basic vehicle terminology, design and construction, basic driving skills, emergency driving considerations and skills, readiness checks, and maintenance. Additionally, the class includes the National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Program.
