This course is based on NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications (Chapter 4). Upon successful completion will lead to ProBoard Certification. The course identified the requirements necessary to perform the duties of a first line supervisor. This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of management and supervision by concentration on such topics as organizational structure, communications skills, human resource management, public relations, planning, emergency services delivery and safety. All prerequisites must be met prior to admission into this program.

These prerequisites are carefully chosen to match the skills, knowledge, and certifications necessary for successful participation in the course. If a valid certification is required (e.g., CPR certification), it must remain current throughout the course.
