SUMMARY:Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
DESCRIPTION:The Advanced EMT program is a 280 hour program that is the entry level of ALS for current EMT’s. Our Advanced EMT program is designed to provide the student with the foundation needed to function as an AEMT in the state of New Hampshire\, building upon the skills of an EMT-Basic provider. With the Advanced EMT Curriculum as its core\, our program adds the latest New Hampshire Transitional modules so our graduates will be fully prepared to practice with a New Hampshire EMS service. This course contains over 200 hours of advanced didactic and clinical education with expanded Anatomy\, Trauma and Pediatric pathophysiology modules. This course is once a week on Friday’s from 9am-5pm. There is also an online homework component to this course that is completed on Canvas. ​ The program consists of classroom lecture\, practical laboratory experiences\, a hospital clinical internship\, and a field EMS internship. Course and clinical work will allow students to perform advanced level patient assessment\, utilize advanced airway devices\, recognize lethal dysrhythmias\, initiate intravenous and intraosseous fluid therapy\, administer medications\, and achieve a higher level of clinical decision-making skills. ​ Students who successfully complete this program with an overall 80% average\, are eligible to take the National Registry of EMTs examination and subsequently apply for state licensure. Our program is approved by the New Hampshire Bureau of EMS.

The growing recognition of the EMT as a professional member of the health-care team has expanded career opportunities for graduates. EMT are the cornerstone of EMS in the United States. ​ EMT’s are taught to systematically evaluate a patient’s condition and provide assessment-based treatment. Our program follows the 1994 National Standard Curriculum for the Emergency Medical Technician\, with supplementary materials added to meet the latest New Hampshire Transition requirements. The curriculum includes airway management\, oxygen therapy\, patient assessment\, medical emergencies\, traumatic injuries\, special patient populations\, and EMS operations. We teach using interactive classroom lectures\, dynamic hands-on practical training\, and a field internship with a busy ambulance service. DESCRIPTION:About The Course The AEMT is provided with the education and skills of advanced patient assessment\, airway management\, intravenous therapy\, and pharmacological interventions. Most commonly you see the AEMT as the EMS team leader in an ambulance service environment. As an advanced life support provider the AEMT is relied upon to have keen basic life support and advanced life support skills. It is common to see the AEMT serving as a team leader in ambulance service environment. Course Cost $2\,400.00 which includes: AEMT Course\, NH Bureau of EMS Scope of Practice Modules\, Textbooks\, Online Resources\, and All Course Materials. A $500 deposit is required to register. Course Dates & Location Saturdays 8AM to 5PM | January 10\, 2026 through May 30\, 2026 There will be a Sunday sessions on 3/1 from 8AM to 5PM. There are no class sessions on 4/4 $ 5/23. There will be half day only (morning) on 1/10. Location Granite State EMS\, 200 N. State Street\, Concord\, NH 03301. \nPrerequisites (due 30 days from course start) Current NREMT certification at the EMT level (valid through March 2027). Current AHA BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification (valid through December 2026). Criminal Record free of serious convictions (proof required). Proof of current healthcare insurance or employer’s statement of workers compensation coverage during class. Proof of the following vaccinations or immunity; Hepatitis B\, TB/PPD (two 2-step tests within 6 months or QuantiFERON test)\, Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR)\, Varicella (verification of disease history or immunization)\, Influenza (Seasonal) Vaccine (Flu Shot)\, Pertussis (Whooping Cough).
