DESCRIPTION:About The Course The AEMT is provided with the education and skills of advanced patient assessment\, airway management\, intravenous therapy\, and pharmacological interventions. Reliable internet access is required to be able to complete the online component of this course. \nNOTE: This program is an intensive\, 9-week\, higher-education\, hybrid course requiring frequent and reliable internet access to complete the requisite online content. To successfully complete this program\, students should anticipate twelve plus hours of additional reading\, preparatory work and homework outside of the regularly scheduled class time each week. The estimated length of this course including online and in-person work is approximately 154-hours. \nAfter completing this course\, the student will have met the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA) 1033\, 2022 edition\, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator. DESCRIPTION:The Advanced EMT program is a 280 hour program that is the entry level of ALS for current EMT’s. Our Advanced EMT program is designed to provide the student with the foundation needed to function as an AEMT in the state of New Hampshire\, building upon the skills of an EMT-Basic provider. With the Advanced EMT Curriculum as its core\, our program adds the latest New Hampshire Transitional modules so our graduates will be fully prepared to practice with a New Hampshire EMS service. This course contains over 200 hours of advanced didactic and clinical education with expanded Anatomy\, Trauma and Pediatric pathophysiology modules. This course is once a week on Friday’s from 9am-5pm. There is also an online homework component to this course that is completed on Canvas. ​ The program consists of classroom lecture\, practical laboratory experiences\, a hospital clinical internship\, and a field EMS internship. Course and clinical work will allow students to perform advanced level patient assessment\, utilize advanced airway devices\, recognize lethal dysrhythmias\, initiate intravenous and intraosseous fluid therapy\, administer medications\, and achieve a higher level of clinical decision-making skills. ​ Students who successfully complete this program with an overall 80% average\, are eligible to take the National Registry of EMTs examination and subsequently apply for state licensure. Our program is approved by the New Hampshire Bureau of EMS.

Students can choose a clinical site that is affiliated with NEEMSI (See affiliations page). Students can schedule their clinical hours to work around their work schedule. Our program consists of 7 Modules:​ Module 1: Cardiology\, Airway and Pharmacology I Module 2: Cardiology\, Airway and Pharmacology II Module 3: Special Patient Demographics (Cradle to grave) Module 4: Medical and Trauma Emergencies I Module 5: Medical and Trauma Emergencies II Module 6: Capstone Module 7: Online Operations Module This Program will consist of 4 parts: ​ In class (392 Hours): The class will meet once a week for 8 hours for the duration of the course with major holidays and weather considered. Each morning will consist of a quiz followed by lecture. Every afternoon will involve some type of lab\, group activity\, simulation or role playing. NEEMSI students have access to the online journal Prehospital Emergency Care. ​ Lab (128 Hours): One day will be dedicated solely to labs every 3-4 weeks. Our labs will involve ALS skills\, and simulation in our breakout rooms. Our breakout rooms mimic 4 specific prehospital settings; an apartment living room\, an outdoor setting\, a nursing home and a pediatric room. We use iSimulate monitors and stethoscopes\, a Laerdal high fidelity mannequin\, multiple kinds of video laryngoscopes and an ambulance simulator. ​ Online (800 Hours): There will be an online portion for each module. Most of our operations topics will be compiled into an “Online Operations Module (160 Hours).” This module will open at the beginning of module 3 and close at the end of module 5\, giving our students 26 weeks total to complete the module. The student must pass the module with an 80% or higher to continue in the program. The operations module is meant to cater to the student’s schedule. ​ All topics covered in this operations module are compliant with National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards 2021. ​ Clinical (588 Hours): Our program has 250 hours in the hospital and 338 hours in the field. The projected hours per week for clinical time is 12 hours per week and will begin after competency is demonstrated in Module 1. Out of the 338 field hours\, 200 will be capstone with a verified preceptor and the student must document 20 Successful team leads. DESCRIPTION:This course is the first level of standards-based certification available to fire and emergency services instructors. During this intensive six-week higher-education course\, you will demonstrate the knowledge and ability to deliver instruction effectively from a prepared lesson plan\, including instructional aids and evaluation instruments; adapt lesson plans to the unique requirements of the students; organize the learning environment so that learning and safety are maximized; and meet the record-keeping requirements of your organization or agency. This class will be conducted in a hybrid online and in-person format consisting of a balance between in-person classroom sessions and online assignments. Regular internet access is required to be able to complete the online component of this course.
