Course Description

This performance-level course prepares emergency responders with hazardous materials backgrounds to safely and effectively support respond operations during a CBRNE incident.  Participants learn to coordinate with local and state agencies, assess CBRNE incidents, conduct area surveys, characterize and screen materials, and perform public safety sampling in hazardous environments.

In addition to submitting an application and required prerequisites to the NHFA, students will need to register with Louisiana State University in order to receive class credit. Prerequisite: Hazardous Materials Technician certification, Medical release

Prerequisites

To ensure the safety and effectiveness of all participants, prerequisites must be met at the time of registration unless otherwise specified in the course description. Participants are responsible for renewing any mandatory certifications that may expire during the course period.
