Course Description

This 2-day course is designed to help fire and emergency services learn what community risk reduction is and how to build organizational support for it. This course will address the challenges that fire departments face in shifting their priorities from response to prevention. In many departments, community risk reduction is still considered a low priority. This course will show you how community risk reduction can help you and your department become more of a community player in times of decreased budgets.

The target audience for this course includes:
Fire and emergency services personnel who want to learn about community risk reduction.
Fire and emergency services personnel who are currently involved with fire prevention and have an interest in advancing risk-reduction efforts in their community.

Prerequisites for this course: ICS 100 and ICS 200

Accepted students will be required to complete a pre-course assignment that should take about 1 hour to complete. This assignment will be sent to you once enrolled in the program.

Prerequisites

These prerequisites are carefully chosen to match the skills, knowledge, and certifications necessary for successful participation in the course. If a valid certification is required (e.g., CPR certification), it must remain current throughout the course. Participants are responsible for renewing any mandatory certifications that may expire during the course period. Failure to meet the stated prerequisites may result in ineligibility to attend the course.

Prerequisites: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (ICS-200), Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS-100)
