Course Description

🔥 New Course Offering: First Responder Inspector (Former Fire Inspector I)

Overview:
This course is designed to meet the requirements of NFPA 1030 for the role of First Responder Inspector. Participants will gain the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic fire safety inspections under the direction of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). This role is ideal for firefighters assigned to suppression duties or other personnel whose primary responsibilities do not include fire inspection.

Prerequisites:

Hazardous Materials Awareness, fulfilled by one of the following:

NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Awareness Level Responder

AWR160 WMD/Terrorism Awareness for Emergency Responders

Any course meeting the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(i)

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification:
Successful completion of this course will prepare participants to operate at the First Responder Inspector level as defined by NFPA 1030.

Objective: Understand the purpose and application of fire and life safety codes.

Lesson 2: New Hampshire Fire Safety Statutes and Rules (3 Hours)

Differentiating between national codes and local ordinances

Module 2: Roles and Responsibilities of Inspectors (6 Hours)

Objective: Learn the essential duties and responsibilities of a First Responder Inspector.

Objective: Assess the operational readiness of fire detection and suppression systems.

Code requirements and documentation

Lesson 2: Assessing Fire Suppression Systems (4 Hours)

Types of suppression systems and their functions

Inspection tasks for fixed and portable extinguishers

Lesson 3: Reporting and Documentation (2 Hours)

Module 5: Legal Proceedings and Documentation (6 Hours)

Objective: Prepare for participation in legal proceedings and understand documentation requirements.
