Course Description

This is a modular delivery of the Hazardous Materials Operations Program.   There will be a written and practical examination to complete the ProBoard certification.  Please contact Steve Solomon at stephen.j.solomon@dos.nh.gov with any questions about this course.

  • Pre-requisites: Student Medical Release, PPE/SCBA online module completion, PPE/SCBA skills module completion, Fire Attack and Hose online module completion, Fire Attack and Hose skills module completion, Hazardous Materials Awareness certification (Student must have successfully completed both the training AND the written exam).

This course provides the student with the basic skills necessary to safely and effectively manage the on-scene operations involving the uncontrolled release of dangerous chemicals. As such, it focuses on those individuals in local jurisdictions who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment for the effects of the release. They are trained to respond in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release. Their function is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading, and prevent exposures.

This course is designed to meet the training responsibilities as outlined by OSHA, CFR 1910.120 and NFPA 472, 2022 Edition for the Operations Level.
