Candidates seeking licensing as a State EMS Instructor must meet or exceed NFPA 1041 Chapter 4 (Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Level I). Candidates seeking licensing as a NH EMS Instructor Coordinator must meet or exceed NFPA 1041 Chapter 5 and 6 (Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Level II and III). Please note that the successful completion of this process will not result in certification at the level for which you were evaluated.
Those with previous instructional experience can apply for an EMS Instructor or EMS Instructor Coordinator (I/C) license provided they have met or exceeded the professional qualification standards in NFPA 1041 for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I or Fire and Emergency Services Instructor III.
Currently, the following courses are considered to meet or exceed the NFPA 1041 Professional Qualification Standards for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor:

- Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I
- National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE): IC Levels 1 & 2
- NHTI – Concord’s Community College: Career and Technical Education Alternative Certification
Instructor III (EMS I/C)
- Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II & III*
* The standards, knowledge, and skills in Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II is prerequisite for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor III.
If you hold the above education but did not complete it through FSTEMS, you can submit your certificates for equivalency via RespondNH using the EMS Instructor Equivalency Application. This same application can also be used to submit evidence of equivalency from another educational pathway not listed above.
