The Chester Fire Department is now accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in filling an immediate opening for a full-time FF/EMT position, as well as creating a hiring list for future positions. The current schedule is 40 hours per week, consisting of five eight-hour shifts, Monday – Friday (could change based on staffing). This position is eligible for overtime based on guidelines established by the Chief.
Salary Range: $45,697 – $60,000
Compensation commensurate on experience and current certifications
With additional Holiday & Overtime pay, State of NH Retirement & Generous Benefits Package
Minimum Qualifications:
• 18 years of age
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must meet the minimum as required by the State of NH Division of Fire Standards & Training, Administrative Rule “Part 700”
• Pro-Board Firefighter II Certification
• Nationally Registered EMT (Preference to AEMT or Paramedic)
• Must have passed Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) as required by the State of NH Division of Fire Standards & Training, Administrative Rule “Part 702”
• NH CDL B with air-brake & tank endorsement or higher (or obtain CDL within 6 months of hire)
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive driving and background check
• Flexibility to handle general administrative duties as well as Fire/EMS duties daily
Lateral transfers from New Hampshire fire departments are encouraged to apply and must be compliant with NH Part Fire 703 of the NH Fire Code. All new hires are subject to a probationary period of up to one year.
