The instructor mentoring program is designed to assist new fire and EMS instructors learn how to become better educators within their disciplines. In order to participate in the mentoring program candidates must have:
FIRE SERVICE INSTRUCTORS
- Completed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I certification
- Attended the Fire Instructor Orientation class
EMS INSTRUCTORS
- Completed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I certification
- Completed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II certification
- Completed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor III certification
- Attend EMS Instructor Orientation
- Obtain provisional EMS instructor license
- Completed and had approved a mentoring agreement application with a NH Fire Academy and EMS approved mentor
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
Candidates must complete no less than 20 hours of documented mentoring time with favorable evaluations from their approved mentors. Some candidates may be required to complete additional time as needed. Mentored instruction must be comprised of cognitive classroom time and psychomotor lab time.
Candidates will utilize more than one mentor to complete their requirements. For EMS Instructor Coordinators, the mentor who completed the majority of the time and evaluations on the candidate will be the responsible party for submitting the final letter of recommendation to the NH Fire Academy and EMS.
