Difficult Conversations: Preventing Responder Suicide and Promoting Resilience

Description
| This will be a three part presentation. The first two speakers will discuss suicide from the perspective of a family whose spouse was a career firefighter and completed suicide in 2020 as well as a clinical social worker who has specifically worked in the mental health field developing suicide prevention and postintervention programs. The final speaker will conduct a workshop where participants should expect to leave with a better understanding of how stress and trauma affect first responder performance and be equipped with techniques to build resilience and initiate difficult conversations.

Applicants will be notified within two business days with the status of their applications. Courses where pricing is listed as "grant funded" covers course tuition only. Overtime/backfill eligible courses will be specifically noted.
