This will be a three part presentation. The first two speakers will discuss suicide from the perspective of a family whose spouse was a career firefighter and completed suicide in 2020 as well as a clinical social worker who has specifically worked in the mental health field developing suicide prevention and postintervention programs. The final speaker will conduct a workshop where participants should expect to leave with a better understanding of how stress and trauma affect first responder performance and be equipped with techniques to build resilience and initiate difficult conversations.
