The City of Portsmouth Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill immediate positions and to create an eligibility list for anticipated positions in the coming months. Basic duties include fire suppression and emergency medical services with ambulance transport.  A full job description can be found at https://www.cityofportsmouth.com/hr/work.  Minimum requirements are as follows:

High School diploma or GED

Be at least 18 years of age

Certification as a Pro Board Firefighter One, and a nationally registered EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic (AEMT must be obtained prior to the completion of the first year)

Possess a valid New Hampshire CPAT card. (Candidate physical ability test)

Pass a criminal and driving background check

Pass a NFPA 1582 pre-employment physical

Completion of the State of New Hampshire Administrative rules, 701.01 (d), 701.02, 702.01, 702.02 or a lateral transfer that meets rule 703.01

Ability to pass an acrophobia test
