Course Description
The New Hampshire Scope of Practice program is for EMS providers who intend to practice within the State of New Hampshire. The skills discussed in the Scope of Practice program are those that are not part of a traditional EMS certification program, but are permitted to be performed under NH EMS protocol. Scope of Practice education is provided according to the student’s provider level; including Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. Successful completion of the Scope of Practice program is a requirement for all EMS providers in order to be permitted to practice in the state.
Scope of Practice can be completed by either of two ways:
- Scope of Practice Cognitive Portion (offered online and free of cost by the NH Fire Academy & EMS), AND
- Demonstration of hands-on skills to one’s department training officer, course instructor, or medical control physician
OR
- Enrolling in an approved Scope of Practice program offered by a private EMS Instructor/Coordinator
