Emergency Rule, Number of Providers Required for Patient Transport

On March 13, 2020, the Honorable Governor Sununu declared a State of Emergency under RSA 4:45 to prepare for and respond to suspected COVID-19 cases in New Hampshire, and to implement measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. COVID-19.

The following emergency rule has been filed and is in effect. The emergency rule relieves providers from having to use two licensed providers during this period when EMS staff may be unavailable due to quarantine, illness or diverted by increase of calls.

  • m) Notwithstanding any other rule to the contrary, in the event of a declared state of emergency, public health or public safety incident, staffing level in each EMS land or water vehicle during patient transport may be one provider at the level of EMT, AEMT or paramedic, who shall attend to the patient.
