Instructor Mentoring Program

The instructor mentoring program is designed to assist new instructors, whether for Fire or Emergency Medical Services, to learn how to be better educators within their disciplines. In order to participate in the mentoring program, candidates must first:

EMS Instructors

  • Complete Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I certification (EMS-I)
  • Complete Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II certification (EMS-IC)
  • Complete Fire and Emergency Services Instructor III certification (EMS-IC)

State Fire Instructors

  • Complete Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I certification
  • Attend Fire Instructor Orientation
Instructor Mentoring Program Completion Requirements

Candidates may utilize more than one mentor to complete their requirements.

    Please provide comments on candidates use of behavioral objectives, up-to-date subject matter, vocal volume and clarity, and capability of engaging student participation. Please provide any additional notes on instructor preparedness, timeliness, fairness, and ability to control distractions. These comments will be visible to the instructor mentee and FSTEMS staff.
