The Bedford, NH Fire Department has current opening(s) for the position of Firefighter – EMT, AEMT or Paramedic.

Increasing staffing with 2 per shift to make four shifts of 11, made up with a Captain, Lieutenant and 9 firefighters.

• Wage adjustment for lateral transfers and private EMS based on years of service (8-step system).
• Eligibility for promotion after 3 years.
• Tuition/shift reassignment for career development (Paramedicine, Fire Officer, etc.) and multiple in-house fire academy classes.
• Fire and EMS training provided on duty and off duty with overtime pay.
• 24 hours on, 72 hours off schedule (24/72).
• Daily rotation of positions.
• Annual Incentives (Tech Rescue, Pump/Aerial, etc.)
• 8 Step wage system.

2024 rates

EMT – $23.46-$28.28

AEMT – $24.48-$29.51

Paramedic – $26.52-$31.96.

Typical Duties: Respond to fire and medical emergencies. Drive and operate emergency apparatus. Inventory and maintain all apparatus and equipment in a constant state of readiness. Participate in fire prevention and risk reduction activities. Participate in regular training.

Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent Current CPAT certification or eligible for lateral transfer Firefighter I certification (Paramedics without Firefighter I will be considered) NREMT EMT, Advance or Paramedic Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) Qualified candidates will be expected to successfully pass the department, oral board, acrophobia test, and Chief’s interview to be considered eligible.
