The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Fire Standards & Training and EMS has a full-time vacancy for Fire Service Instructor Supervisor, which has a 40 hour work week and is non-exempt.
SCOPE OF WORK: Plans, coordinates and manages all curriculum, certification and accreditation activities for the Division to ensure they maintain the standards set forth by the Fire Standards and Training Commission and ProBoard. Oversees and manages all certification, entrance and promotional testing as well as act as the point of contact for the National Fire Academy and Fire Officer Program.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage, develop, evaluate and analyze written and practical examinations to ensure they meet national accepted standards and safeguard the security of information that is utilized in the development and creation of exams.
Supervises training and development of programs by overseeing and evaluating program delivery, assessing student and instructor performance, and coordinating training program opportunities.
Recommends changes to enhance delivery and discipline as necessary. Evaluates program delivery and student and instructor performance. Recommends changes to enhance delivery and discipline as necessary.
Manage and coordinate all certification, entrance and promotional testing and ensures all testing is being conducted in compliance with all Division policies and procedures.
Prepares program budgets, schedules and hiring of staff instructors to assure effective program delivery and proper student to instructor ratios are met for safety.
Serves as a representative on visiting committees relating to all programs. Reviews proposed training materials and recommends changes to enhance current standards and updates and ensures all programs meet nationally accepted standards.
Prepares reports as to the delivery of assigned responsibilities and the effectiveness of training and testing. Evaluates programs and recommends changes as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Associate’s Degree
3 Years of additional relevant experience = Bachelor’s Degree
4.5 Years additional relevant experience = Master’s Degree
Education: Associate’s degree from a recognized college or technical school with a major study in fire protection or fire science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Seven years of experience in firefighting and/or in planning and conducting professional fire and emergency services training and education programs within a fire department, state fire agency, or district fire mutual aid system, three years of which shall have been at a supervisory level. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be certified to the level of Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I.
1. Must be certified to the level of Firefighter II or equivalent.
1. Must be certified to the level of Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II & III within one year of employment. A time extension may be granted for this special requirement by the Division of Fire Standards & Training and Emergency Medical Services if justified based on the availability of the required certification program.
1. Must be available on nights and weekends to attend meetings, training programs and examinations.
1. Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
1. Requires some out-of-state travel related to ProBoard and National Fire Academy training.
