The Stratham Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) is accepting applications for the positions of full-time, part-time and per diem Paramedic and Firefighter/Paramedic positions. Applicants should possess the ability to operate under pressure, be ready to part of a team working alongside SVFD Fire and EMS volunteers and be willing to serve the community through fire prevention and public safety education. One Paramedic Service Coordinator will have the lead responsibility for developing and supervising ALS services.
Paramedic Responsibilities: • Provide emergency medical care at the Paramedic Advanced Life Support level and provide department support of ALS Provider licensing requirements • Attend and participate in department meetings, training drills and ongoing education in fire suppression and ALS procedures Firefighter/Paramedic Responsibilities (in addition to paramedic responsibilities listed above) • Provide firefighting, rescue services and advanced life support (ALS) in response to medical emergencies • Perform all aspects of fire suppression, including driving fire apparatus and operating firefighting equipment • Respond to high-stress, hazardous environments such as burning buildings and confined spaces • Assist in technical rescues and hazardous material containment • Maintain fire equipment, ambulances and fire station facilities • Participate in fire prevention programs, code enforcement and public education initiatives
Qualifications (all positions) • High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree in Fire Science or EMS preferred • Current National Registry Paramedic certification • Current (or eligible for) NH Paramedic Provider license • Valid NH driver’s license; CDL preferred • Strong physical condition and the ability to perform demanding tasks in high-stress environments • Must pass background check Additional Qualifications (Paramedic) • Previous paramedic advanced life support experience preferred Additional Qualifications (Firefighter/Paramedic) • Must meet NH Fire 701.01 and 702.01 Physical Ability and Firefighter Entrance requirements (full-time applicants only) • Previous firefighting experience preferred Employment Type (all positions) Full-time: Scheduled shifts of 35-48 hours per week; employee benefits eligible Part-time: Scheduled shifts up to 30 hours per week Per diem: Shifts scheduled upon availability Starting Pay Rate: $28-$35 per hour Interested candidates may submit a resume and cover letter to: Stratham Volunteer Fire Department Attn: Chief Jeff Denton 10 Bunker Hill Ave. Stratham, NH 03885 Or email: jdenton@strathamnh.gov
