Autism Awareness for the First Responder

Description
This class is a three part PowerPoint presentation covering ways to identify someone with autism through common characteristics. We talk about the early years and diagnosis and where these individuals can end up as adults. We’ll discuss mandates reporting and some things that we might see on scene. And we end it with a more specific Fire/EMS portion.
Objectives that will be met:
Identify the person with autism in the field
Learn ways to deescalate the situation
Learn ways to make for a better experience for both the individual and the first responder

Registration is only permitted within the defined registration window. Prerequisites must be met at the time of registration. Applicants will be notified within two business days with the status of their applications. Courses where pricing is listed as "grant funded" covers course tuition only. Overtime/backfill eligible courses will be specifically noted.
