Domestic violence, also referred to as intimate partner violence (IPV), is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner. These behaviors can manifest in a variety of ways to include physical, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. EMS has unique opportunities to intervene in cases of domestic violence. This training will describe the signs and dynamics of IPV, the barriers that exist for those who need help, and demonstrate a referral to an IPV advocacy center. |
