The longer a patient has an infection from any source, the greater the likelihood of that infection taking hold and progressing to SEPSIS. This class will walk providers through the pathway of infection, systemic inflammatory response, SEPSIS, shock, and death. We will talk about how to recognize this progression and intervene before it’s too late.
Objectives:
• Define key terms related to systemic infection,
• Explain the pathological sequence from infection to death,
• Recognize signs of systemic infection,
• Treat the symptoms of systemic infection,
• Communicate with other healthcare providers regarding a patient’s condition
