This course is offered in a synchronous online format with regular meetings, assignments, and presentations. Student must have reliable internet access and a webcam. Instructor II certification exams will be in-person at the NH Fire Academy.
The course is designed for the Fire Service Instructor who, in addition to meeting Instructor I qualifications, wants to develop the knowledge and ability to develop individual lesson plans for a specific topic including learning objectives, instructional aids, and evaluation instruments; schedule training sessions based on overall training plans of the authority having jurisdiction; and supervise and coordinate the activities of other instructors. Course delivery is 100% online with an in-person written exam. This is a fast-paced intensive course in which students will meet together during four scheduled virtual classroom sessions as well as a virtual practical evaluation. During the duration of this course students will be required to do extensive independent reading and complete independent work to create a comprehensive training program. Regular internet access is required to be able to complete this course. After completing the course the student will have met the sections for Fire Instructor II in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041, 2019 edition, professional qualifications standard. Students who successfully complete the certification process will be ProBoard certified as Instructor II.
