The Pipeline Emergencies program is designed to provide a technically accurate and useful resource document for those who may be called upon to respond to a pipeline incident. We also believe that this material will give the pipeline industry and fire service community an excellent opportunity to work together in planning and training activities which will enable incidents to be handled safely, expediently, and efficiently. The Pipeline Emergencies is designed to help fire service and industry emergency responders to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively manage a pipeline incident. It is based upon nationally recognized engineering practices, recommended operating practices, and training programs. This is the third edition of the program which was completely updated and released in January of 2017. Also, in 2017, the field education (IE classroom) component of the program underwent a third major content review and update to keep the content current given recent issues and events, yet still maintaining its balance with NFPA 472 and 1072. As the demand for energy continues to grow, so too will the need for pipelines. While pipelines may become a controversial issue, this should not keep responders from training on this high-risk, low frequency event. The scenarios included in the program are designed to cover a wide range of potential incidents, while allowing responders to work through them using the resources available to them, thus allowing them the tools they need for their individual toolbox should such an event occur in or near their jurisdiction.

This class is for Candidates who want to learn how to stand out during an oral board interview. Instructors of this class will be a team of Fire Department leaders and experts who will teach students what New Hampshire's departments are looking for and how they can make a lasting impression to get hired. Students are asked to come dressed and conduct themselves professionally as if they were in an actual interview. They are also asked to bring copies of their resumes and be prepared for honest feedback. This is a great opportunity to make connections while learning how to improve their job interviewing skills. This class is open to anyone hoping to get hired at their first department or those who are looking for pointers to help prepare for a promotional interview. This one day class helps prepare and mentor female candidates to pass CPAT and also helps them work toward their career in the Fire Service. It will also provide networking and fellowship opportunities. Open to women ages 18+. This course is free.
This 8-hour course will review the basics of response to common hazardous materials incidents seen in New Hampshire, including resources to support departments and their communities in management, cleanup, and reporting. This course includes both classroom discussion and practical evolutions. Practical evolutions include equipment demonstrations and spill control techniques (protecting catch basins, underflow dams, etc.) This seminar is offered jointly between the NH Department of Environmental Services and the Division of Fire Standards and Training & EMS.
This workshop will explore the broad array of response-based risks faced by responders during natural disasters and how to mitigate their impacts. Objectives: • To mitigate weather-related impacts on responders. • To identify other risks related to exposure such as mold, flood water contaminants, etc • To monitor your team during a response for early recognition of potential health threats.

This course is an all-level review of neurological emergencies with a heavy focus on medical simulation. Participants of this program will be provided with opportunities to simulate various neurological emergencies in an out-of-hospital scenario. Participants will be expected to provide hands-on care for the simulated patient and work as part of a novel rescue team.

The longer a patient has an infection from any source, the greater the likelihood of that infection taking hold and progressing to SEPSIS. This class will walk providers through the pathway of infection, systemic inflammatory response, SEPSIS, shock, and death. We will talk about how to recognize this progression and intervene before it's too late. Objectives: • Define key terms related to systemic infection, • Explain the pathological sequence from infection to death, • Recognize signs of systemic infection, • Treat the symptoms of systemic infection, • Communicate with other healthcare providers regarding a patient's condition

Focus of course will be on identification and triage care of acute neurological processes in the pre hospital via case studies and a review of basic neuro physiology. Special attention to the complexities of neurological deficits; particularity stroke, treatment options that require time sensitive care and specific destinations for that care. Lastly, the course will review special considerations for transporting the stroke patient between facilities. After this course learners will be able to : • List the common stroke risk factors • Recognize the signs of stroke; including uncommon presentations. • Verbalize the goals of care at scene strokes • Acknowledge understanding of the current NH state protocol for stroke care and destination decision directives • Identify assessment priorities and treatment options during neurological patient transport • Describe time sensitive treatment options for both ischemic and hemorrhagic acute stroke
